Lens from an electron microscope


This is an old lens someone cut, looks like infiltrated with some epoxy, polished, and put on display at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. It is the lens to an electron microscope, hence all the windings of copper seen in crossection (electro-magnetic lens). A quarter is in the foreground for scale.

Spider Macro image taken with Canon S70, morning with tripod


Spider in web, early morning. It was identified as a Araneus diadematus, family Araneidae by a friend working in entomology.
